Obey the Warning Signs

THOUGHTFUL THINGS

Driving to Louisiana last week for a ministers' conference I looked and saw a sign that said, “Obey the warning signs” and my spirit really spoke to me. This something that we need to do this every day. The Bible teaches us and warns us of the many things that we must avoid and what we must do in order to make Heaven our home one day. God gives us warning signs as we seek Him and walk with Him daily. But the question I pose to you is do you obey the warning signs?

God does limit us in what we can or cannot do, God just gives us signs to obey so that we do not fall or go astray. There is a picture that shows a gate near a cliff with a sign that says Do Not Cross. The person reading the signs says “I am tired of God telling me what to do” he jumps over the fence only to plum it down the cliff to his death on a pile dead of bodies. Signs and warnings are put in place to prevent us from harming ourselves physically and spiritually. If we trust God and His word, then we should trust His process. God loves us and wants great things for His children.

As a parent we warn our children of the things that would cause harm to them or others, but we should also warn them of the things that will cause harm to them spiritually as well.

We must remember that warning signs are posted for safety/guidance but are often ignored by even the most seasoned Christians. While ignoring some warning signs can result in harm or no consequence at all, it is important to remember the game of Russian roulette you play every time you disobey a warning sign. So, the next time you see an obey the warning sign, remember it is for your safety and protection as well as the generation that follows you.

Ezekiel 3: 17-19 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.
