Taylor tosses a gem against Dayton in final scrimmage
DAYTON — Brookelyn Taylor looked to be in mid-season form on Tuesday night as the Liberty Lady Panthers and Lady Broncos got together for each team’s last preseason scrimmage.
Taylor struck out 18 hitters and did not allow a hit to Dayton.
Madi Alvarado also pitched well for Dayton and finished with six strikeouts.
Liberty grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning as Bailee Slack singled before Kylee Bishop reached on an error by the third baseman, allowing Slack to come around and score.
In the fifth inning, Taylor singled, and then pinch-runner Maddie Ziriax scored on a Marina Bourgeois double, and the lead was 2-0.
The Lady Panthers added one more in the fifth as Bishop doubled and then came around to score on a Hollie Thomas double for a 3-0 advantage.
Both teams will be busy in regular season action this weekend as Liberty travels to Brenham, and Dayton will visit the island and participate in the Galveston Ball Tournament.
