Slack named SETCA Coach of the Year
This past June, the Liberty Lady Panthers won their second consecutive Class 4A State Championship on the softball field. Take it a step further, and the Lady Panthers have won three of the last four titles, minus the Covid season that ended things abruptly in 2020.
You don’t have that kind of success without a great coach, and Liberty’s Karen Slack is one of the best in the state.
So, when the Southeast Texas Coaches Association (SETCA) announced their 2022 Coaches of the Year, Slack was no surprise named Coach of the Year in softball.
The Lady Panthers will start cranking things up next month, and Slack and her team will look for back-to-back titles.
The Co-football Coaches of the Year are Lumberton’s James Reyes and Port Neches- Groves Jeff Joseph. Named the Coach of the Year from Huffman in volleyball was Shelbee Ravlin.
Named the girls basketball Coach of the Year is Hardin-Jefferson’s, Mike Fogo.
