Lowe recognized for scoring 1,000 career points
TARKINGTON- You will not find a more hard-working and dedicated athlete than Lady Horns senior Emily Lowe. On Tuesday night before their final home game against Crockett, the ultimate surprise was pulled off as Lowe was recognized in a pre-game ceremony for scoring 1,000 career points on the basketball court.
“ That was a complete surprise to me,” said Lowe. “That was a special moment I will always remember.”
To say Lowe does it all at Tarkington High School is an understatement. She also excels in volleyball and softball. Did I mention she is also the Homecoming Queen this year?
Lowe doesn’t take anything for granted, and anytime a player hits the floor hustling for a loose ball, there is a good chance it’s #23.
“I only know one way to play, and that is all out all the time,” Lowe added, “I never take a playoff.”
Lowe is trying to decide which sport she plans on playing in college. It will either be volleyball or basketball.
“ I have a workout for volleyball at Wharton County Junior College coming up,” said Lowe. “I also have a couple of colleges I am interested in for basketball.”
Although the Lady Horns fell to Crockett on Tuesday night at home, Lowe made her last home game count by scoring 21 points and finishing with three makes from downtown. Lowe took a hard foul in the first half and went to the floor.
As I asked her did that play shake her up, Lowe responded, “ I don’t remember; I just got up and busted it to the other end of the court.”
Lowe and her Tarkington teammates are not done just yet, as the Lady Horns will meet Hitchcock on Monday in the bi- district round of the playoffs at 6 pm in Pasadena at South Houston High School.
Come watch as Emily adds to her career point total.
