Liberty grabs 46-38 over Dayton
DAYTON - The Liberty Panthers made the short drive through the river bottom into Dayton on Tuesday night for a non-district contest with the Broncos.
Patrick Flowers had 16 points and shot from 3 for 4 from three-point range, and Liberty left town with a 46-38 victory.
The Panthers held Dayton to just 4 points in the opening quarter, taking a 10-4 advantage after a quarter of play.
Liberty put together another good quarter and outscored the Broncos 14-9 in the second to lead 24-13 at the half.
Dayton turned the tables in the third period and outscored the Panthers 18-9 in the quarter and trailed just 33-31 heading into the fourth quarter.
The fourth period saw Liberty with a 13-7 scoring advantage over the Broncos, winning the game 46-38.
Kaiden Jones added 10 points and 4 assists for the Panthers, while Dra’core Bankhead had 10 rebounds, and Zachary Breaux chipped in with 8 points and 9 rebounds.
In JV play, Dayton won 55-36, while the Broncos first-year team pulled out a close 51-50 win.
Liberty will host Splendora on Friday night, while Dayton will travel to Lufkin.
