Lady Panthers grab 3 wins at East Chambers Christmas Classic
WINNIE - The Liberty Lady Panthers took part in the East Chambers Christmas Classic last week and finished with a 3-2 record, according to Head Coach Chase Sylvia.
Liberty had wins over Woodville, Tarkington, and Hallettsville while taking losses against Jasper and LC-M.
In the Lady Panthers 44-37 win over Woodville, Liberty led 26-16 at the half. Madyson Goudeau scored 16 of her 26 points in the second half. Morgan Vaughn finished with 7 points.
The Lady Panthers and Jasper played even for three quarters, with both teams tied at 30 heading into the final eight minutes. The Lady Bulldogs then outscored Liberty 14-3 in the fourth quarter, and Jasper won the contest 44-33. Tay Carry led in scoring with 12 points, while Cheyenne Williams finished with 10.
The final tournament game came against Hallettsville, and the Lady Panthers captured a 57-52 win. Liberty led 28-25 at the break and then held on in the second half for the 5-point win.
Goudeau led the way in scoring with 22 points, while Carry finished with 12. Breezy Pantalion also finished in double figures with 11.
The Lady Panthers will host Livingston on Friday night to open district play.
