Kayleigh Fregia has triple double in Hardin’s 45-33 victory
KIRBYVILLE - Kayleigh Fregia finished with a triple double to lead the Hardin Lady Hornets over Kirbyville 45-33 last Tuesday night on the road.
Fregia was big all game for the Lady Hornets, as she finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 steals.
The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead before Hardin got it going as the Lady Hornets scored 17 points in the quarter to lead 17-6 after the opening period.
In the second quarter, Hardin outscored Kirbyville 8-5 to take a 25-11 into the half. In the third quarter, the Lady Wildcats took advantage of some cold shooting from the Lady Hornets to close with 32-29 heading into the final eight minutes.
Hardin then put the defensive clamps on Kirbyville in the fourth quarter by holding them to just three points in taking the 12-point victory.
Maddy Fregia led the scoring for the Lady Hornets with 20 points, while Anna Barrier also contributed offensively, and Kylee Abney was a big spark on the defensive side of the ball.
“It wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but definitely one we needed after a rough couple of games we’ve had in district already,” said Hardin Head Coach Zachary Arthur.
“Now we just need to continue with this momentum.”
The Lady Hornets will travel to Anahuac on Friday night.
