Indians run over Waller
The Cleveland Indians are beginning to put things together with two wins in a row early in the season. The most recent coming off a huge win to open District 8-5A-I competition against the visiting Waller Bulldogs, 31-6. The big win was sweet, as the Bulldogs thrashed the Indians last year 49-8.
Waller jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over the Indians, but Cleveland would jump into the lead in the second quarter of play to go up 8-3 on a 40-yard Cary Wood touchdown run, with the Indians completing the two-point conversion in the second quarter.
Coming out of the half, the Indians would add another score on a huge 58-yard scamper by Devonte Robertson, while the Indians once again converted the twopoint play.
The Indians held a 16-6 lead over the visiting Bulldogs going into the final quarter of play.
The Indians continued to pile on Waller with a 34-yard touchdown run by QB Tyler Spencer to put up another score; after another two-point conversion, Cleveland led 24-6.
Cleveland put up one more score, and kicker Erik Cruz booted the extra point to go up by a final of 31-6.
The Indians ended the night with a combined 468 yards of total offense, seven ball carriers combining for 349 yards on 40 carries for an 8.7-yard average.
The Indians will travel to Magnolia West for a big district matchup Friday night and a 7 pm start time.
