Cleveland opens at Splendora on August 25
CLEVELAND - Last year was the first season in Indian football history they competed at the Class 6A level and it was a tough road with only one win on the year.
Throw in the fact that the Indians compete in a district with the likes of The Woodlands, New Caney, College Park, and Grand Oaks, and 2023 looks to be another tough season.
Things will kick off for Cleveland on Aug. 25 at Splendora. The Wildcats edged out the Indians 2421 in 2022.
The Indians will then welcome in the Alvin Yellowjackets on Sept. 1 for the home opener.
After an open week, the Indians will start district play at College Park on Sept. 15.
The Indians will then return home the following Friday for Caney Creek. Cleveland picked up their first district win in 6A against the Panthers last year, 34-27.
Cleveland makes a trip to Willis the following Friday to take on the Wildkats and then returns home for The Woodlands on Oct. 6 at Indians Stadium.
A short week will follow as a Thursday night bus ride to Oak Ridge will take place for a battle with the War Eagles.
The always-tough New Caney Eagles hit the town on Oct. 20, and the big red C will head up to the north side on Oct. 27 at Conroe.
The regular season concludes on Nov. 3 at home against Grand Oaks. The Indians played the Grizzlies close last year in a 22-8 loss.
