Wanda Faye Elder Cousins, 1931-2019
Wanda Faye Elder Cousins, 88, of Hull, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, in Dayton surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Jan. 8, 1931 in Frankell, Texas, to John Clarence McKinney and Iva Lee Gray McKinney. She married William Dean Elder and they eventually settled down in Hull to raise their three boys.
Wanda was a loving mother and grandmother who loved attending her grandchildren’s various activities. She enjoyed square dancing, playing canasta and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She worked at Hull State Bank and retired from Oil Well Production in Daisetta. Wanda was a longtime member of Hull’s First Baptist Church.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Clarence Lee, Thurman, Herman Paul, Clyde and Billy Wayne McKinney. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Nathan Elder, whom she loved with all of her heart. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of over 33 years, Frank Wesley Cousins; brother, Douglas McKinney; sister-in-law, Juanita; three sons, Dean Wayne Elder and wife Leigh Ann of Hull, James Kevin Elder and wife Jeanne of Houston, Jason Ross Elder and wife Darla of Huffman; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.
Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers are Cory Elder, Jordan Elder, Graylin Gradney, Dorian Herman, Clyde Cousins and Shane Cousins.
Friends were invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, July 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Street in Liberty. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 3, at 10 a.m. at Allison Funeral Service with Pastor Jordan Elder officiating. A graveside service immediately followed at Guedry Cemetery in Batson.
