Milton Mifflin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 14, 2024, after a 5-year battle against colon cancer. He was 67 years old. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia Mifflin; daughter Jennifer Junaitis and son-in-law Dallas Junaitis of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; daughter Amanda Reed and son-in-law Kade Reed of Lago Vista, Texas; son Miles Mifflin and daughter-in-law Tabitha Mifflin of Dayton, Texas; grandchildren, Hannah, Zachary, Lucas, Remy, Max, Logan, and baby Reed on the way; brother Tommy Mifflin and sister- in- law Julie Mifflin; brother Kenny Mifflin and sister-in-law Elsa Mifflin and niece Kyla Mifflin; and numerous other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ellen Mifflin.
Milton was born on November 26, 1956, in Dayton, Texas. His Dad was one of seven siblings which also married into the Ripkowski family. His Mother was connected to the Smesny family as well. He told wonderful stories about growing up in Dayton surrounded by such a large family. His first job was on Bill Moreau’s farm with his dad, Harold. Milton could be seen working on the rice farm and running equipment at the young age of 12. He was learning to drive a tractor or semi-truck when he had to stand up to see over the dash. He graduated from Dayton High School in 1976 and took some college classes to further his mechanical and electrical skills. His career turned out to be in mechanics and welding. He settled into work at the Port of Houston where he specialized in welding with an unlimited welding certifi cate. He retired after 25 years of service from the Port of Houston and to this day his work ethic is praised by all that worked with him. He was a member of the Dayton Volunteer Fire Dept from 1993 to 2004. He really enjoyed the honor of serving Dayton and working with all his well- respected Fire Fighters and friends.
Milton and Patricia were married in Dayton on November 17, 1984. He settled down and enjoyed his life with Patricia and his daughter Jennifer. He had another daughter, Amanda and a son, Miles. Milton loved and always desired to be outdoors. He did all he could do to make sure all his children and grandchildren loved fishing and hunting as much as he did. The older he got the more he gravitated to the deer lease. That was his place of peace and where he would find his close group of deer lease friends. He also gravitated to the farm life with cows, chickens, gardens, and continued friendship with the Moreau family which is where he started.
When he found out he had cancer he started working on his bucket list. The first and only thing on his bucket list was to go to Alaska and fly with Leo Moreau. His adventures not only included that trip but buying an RV to go camping, a trip to Yellowstone, a trip to Virginia, and hunting Elk with Miles in New Mexico.
His grandchildren call him Paw Paw and he loves them all dearly. He has spent his life taking care of all of his family and friends in need and he will be missed by all. Our time with him has been interrupted for now but some day we will see him again and oh what a glorious reunion we will have.
