Hollis Ray McClellan, born on February 20, 1952, in Coleman, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024, at age 72.

He grew up in Coleman, TX, and graduated from Burkburnett High School in 1970. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Midwestern State University, where he played French horn in the marching band and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternity, followed by his Master’s degree in Education from the University of North Texas in 1978.

As a band director, he taught in Chico, Little Elm, and Hardin, Texas. He was a long-time resident of Liberty, TX, while working with Texaco’s Exploration & Production Department.

He dedicated many years to the Scottish Clan MacLellan, serving as Southwest Regional Director in 1986. In 1987, he led the organization as vice president, and then, later that year, he was president until 1988. He continued as Regional Director until 1993 and remained involved for many years thereafter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Mark McClellan, and his mother, Alma Jo McClellan. Hollis is survived by his two siblings, Gloria Lemond of Kerrville, Texas, and Gaylan McClellan of Weatherford, Texas, as well as his three daughters: Angela Mia McClellan and her husband Jamil Asafi, Mary Kathleen Carrell and her husband Quenton Carrell, and Holly Ann McClellan-Nolan and her husband Lance Nolan. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Madeleine, Aalia, Rayan, Eveleine, Porter, and Bohdi.

Hollis will be remembered for his love of music, Texas history, his Scottish heritage, and, most of all, his commitment to his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 28, at Gouldbusk Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to the Gouldbusk Cemetery Association.
