Anthony Jerome McAfee

Anthony Jerome McAfee was born on August 20, 1978 for his forever parents Victor and Denise McAfee. He was Denise’s only child and she shared with him on his 43rd birthday this year that the day he was born, he was her greatest blessing. He attended schools in both Spring and Houston Independent School Districts, attended a semester at Houston Community College - Downtown Campus, and graduated from Barbara Jordan Career Center in Houston, Texas with a degree in Janitorial Services. He also participated in Track and Field with Special Olympics. During his affiliation with Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare, Anthony became gainfully employed in janitorial work at McDonalds, Liberty High School and the Texas Department of Public of Safety.
Anthony was a beloved member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames, Texas for most of his adult life and thoroughly LOVED watching Christian shows and preachers on television on Sunday mornings when the pandemic prohibited him from being able to actively attend services. His favorite preachers were Bishop TD Jakes and Pastor Joel Osteen and you could sometimes hear Anthony preaching behind closed doors in his bedroom. It was a true passion of his.
Although Anthony was on the Autism Spectrum, he was very much interested in - and on top of - current events and sports. He was a gentle warrior who remained steadfast and positive even after health complications. He loved his mother more than anything, NEVER complained, was ALWAYS grateful for everything, loved the Kansas City Chiefs, gospel, country and R&B music. He also liked to rap. It was not uncommon for him to put together raps with his keyboard and/or just have impromptu jam sessions with his granddaddy accompanying him on his saxophone.
A sweet, sweet spirit, Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Victor Clay McAfee, Jr., paternal grandparents Victor Clay McAfee, Sr. and Ethel McAfee of Hallettsville, TX; and maternal grandparents William (Bear) Green, Jr. (Liberty, TX) and Bernadine Cormier Green (Ames, TX). He leaves to mourn his devoted mother, Denise Marie McAfee, aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins and friends, whom he loved dearly.
A private memorial service will be held with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, his mother has asked that donations be given in his honor to Multiple Sclerosis Association (MSAA) or an Autism charity of your choice.
