Amy Watts Phillips
1941-2023
Amy Watts Phillips died peacefully on May 1, 2023 after a lengthy illness in Granbury.
Amy was born on September 23, 1941 in Houston, Texas to Cecil and Madge Watts.
She graduated from Liberty High School where she was a cheerleader. Amy attended Trinity University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1964. She taught second grade, married, and had two sons- Robert and a few years later Greg.
Amy met Edgar Phillips in 1991 and they married in 1992. Amy and Ed started their life together in Abilene, Texas before moving to Granbury in 1998. For more than 30 years, Amy and Ed were devoted companions, travel buddies, and best friends. Whether they were at home or exploring the world, they filled their time with love, laughter, family, and friends. Amy especially enjoyed holiday cruises and trips to Myrtle Beach with her family.
Amy was a voracious reader and an accomplished cruciverbalist. She was also an excellent cook who inherited her mother’s territorial instincts in the kitchen. When Amy said she did not need help with dinner, she meant it. As Amy’s health declined over the last few years, she faced many obstacles. She never complained and lived each day to the fullest.
Amy was predeceased by her parents and her brother Edwin Watts. She is survived by her loving husband Edgar Phillips. Sons Robert (Vicky) and Greg (Maria) Joyner. Grandchildren Celie (Sam) Schrock and Zachery Joyner. She is also survived by her Edgar's sons Tracy, Billy (Anthony), and David (Karen) and step-grandsons Zane Phillips and Erik Garcia.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Harbor Lakes, Kelley Reed from Interim Hospice, Waterview The Cove, Clearpath Homecare, and Dr. Barnes for the kind and expert care provided to Amy. Visitation will be 6-8pm, Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at The Wiley Center, 420 US Hwy 377 East, Granbury, Texas. A graveside service will be held at Acton Cemetery, 10:30am, Thursday, May 4, 2023, Acton, Texas. The family will host a luncheon reception immediately following the graveside service at the Wiley Center in Granbury.
