Unidentified body found In field
Shortly after noon on Sunday, a hired person on a tractor and looking for a lost cow found the badly decomposed body of a man lying in high weeds of a field approximately 100 yards from a home in the Gulf Company Road area of southeast Liberty County.
According to Liberty County Sheriff’s lead Investigator Sean Mitchell the remains are thought to be that of a man whom the landowner did not know well but had been staying at the residence on the property for the past several days and was last seen on Monday, July 15, as he drove away in a pickup truck.
Investigator Mitchell said that at this time there is no confirmed identity of the deceased man so as a result no family members have been notified nor were there any immediate signs of foul play. Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Ronnie Davis ordered an autopsy while the investigation continues by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
