Search will continue for Johnny Lowe

The search for 53-year-old Johnny Lowe, who was last seen on June 27 while fishing in the early morning hours in the Moss Bluff area of South Liberty County, continued throughout the holiday of July 4.
Liberty County Sheriff’s lead Investigator James R. McQueen said that what appears to be tire tracks leading into the rain swollen Trinity River has led to a day long side-scan sonar search by Texas EquuSearch in the area of the Lake Granada Sub-Division.
During the search, Tim Miller reported at least two “hits” by sonar, but due to the rushing flood waters of the Trinity River, it would be unsafe to send divers into the water to check out exactly what the “hits” may be. Therefore, a later search by side-scan sonar will be conducted after the river waters have had a chance to subside to a safe operational level. Miller stressed that at this point it is impossible to confirm what these “hits” may turn out to be so it would be premature to say if the items detected would be Lowe’s vehicle.
While the Sheriff’s Office and Texas EquuSearch wait for the water to drop to a safe flow rate, Investigator McQueen says the investigation will be on-going for additional information, and he further requests that anyone having information on the whereabouts of Johnny Lowe to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 936-336-4500 or the Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP (7867). Any and all calls to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and cash rewards can be given.
