Pogonotrophers caught on camera in the Sheriff’s Office

In the coming days and weeks, the public will see nine of the Liberty County Deputies sporting beards, which are normally not allowed for uniform personnel. However, this “beards for research” and the relaxing of agency policy for the month of November is for a very good cause.

This resulted when Patrol Captain Robert Dunn became aware that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was having a fund raising effort to further research in keeping with their motto of “Finding Cures, Saving Children.” To help support this most worthy cause, Capt. Dunn challenged his Patrol Division Deputies to join him in supporting St. Jude. He offered to donate $500 from his own pocket if any of his deputies would donate $100 to St. Jude Research Hospital and grow a beard for the month of November to encourage and stand as a symbol for others to donate as well. It did not take long for nine of the LCSO deputies to step-up and donate and begin the beard-growing effort for the month and thus costing their captain his donation as well.

So if you see one or more of these nine uniformed LCSO deputies sporting a beard this month, perhaps you might like to also meet their challenge and consider donating to the efforts of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by calling 1-800-822-6344 and requesting a donation form. You can rest assured this would be money well spent.
