LHS Choir take 39 first division medals
Thirty-seven members of the Liberty High School Choir competed last weekend at UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest, which was held at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School. The students brought home a total of 39 first division medals.
Ricardo Garcia, Ivan Martinez, Roberto Mendez, Makayden Moore, Eduardo Rojas and Morgan Vaughn each received a first division on a Class 3 solo.
Hannah Bearden Dominique Harris, Samantha Jackson and Daniel Martinez received a second division on a Class 2 solo, while Destiny Chambers, Nailah Donatto, Cassity Jordan, Lilianna McNutt, Jade Savala, Tucker Schilling, Julianne Shivers and Emily Thibodeaux received a first division on a Class 2 solo.
Brooke Burgess, Rebecca Gilliam, and Katelyn Klitzka received a second division on a Class 1 solo, while Michael Abel, Caleb Caldwell, Zandrea Carter, John Cisneros, Temidayo Esho, Taylor Heifner, Rafael Martinez, Lauryn Mitchell, Nolan Myers, Jaci Presnull, Gerald Redmon, Faith Singh, Katelyn Singh, Brianna Stickley and Abigail Turner received a first division on a Class 1 solo. The students who received a first division on a Class 1 solo will also advance to compete at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest at the end of the school year.
Some students also competed in an ensemble. Hannah Bearden, Destiny Chambers, Cassity Jordan, Julianne Shivers, Brianna Stickley and Emily Thibodeaux received a first division on a Class 2 ensemble; and Zandrea Carter, Lauryn Mitchell, Faith Singh and Katelyn Singh received a first division on a Class 1 ensemble, which advances them to state with their ensemble in addition to their solos.
The LHS Choirs are under the direction of Christie Bean, Faith Hortman and Mark Patterson.
