Entergy Texas awards over $1.2 million grants to Southeast Texas organizations through Entergy Cares initiative
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – With roots in the region for close to 100 years, Entergy Texas is committed to building a brighter future for the Southeast Texas community beyond just providing electricity. To help carry out part of its mission to improve lives day in and day out, the company is donating over $1.2 million to the Southeast Texas community through its new Entergy Cares initiative. The initiative will help build a more vibrant community through volunteerism and contributions to support the following key areas:
Education ($740,500)
· Healthy families ($275,000)
· Community involvement ($150,000)
· Holiday giving ($116,550)
“At Entergy Texas, we don’t just provide power to the Southeast Texas community, we’re a part of it—which is why we care deeply about finding ways to help our community thrive,” said Eliecer “Eli” Viamontes, president and CEO for Entergy Texas. “By directly giving back and volunteering in our communities, we're building a brighter future for generations to come.”
From September to December, a total of 35 organizations will be awarded an Entergy Cares grant. The Entergy Cares initiative derives from the Entergy Charitable Foundation, which supports initiatives that help create and sustain thriving communities.
Entergy Texas has a long history of supporting local communities financially and through volunteerism. In 2022, the company awarded more than 100 non-profit partners and community organizations with $2.8 million in grants, and employees volunteered a total of 17,956 hours.
