Cleveland PD investigating Sunday homicide
On Sunday, Jan. 5, at 1:07 a.m., Cleveland Police officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Lyle West Avenue in regards to a shooting.
Officers arrived on scene to discover a 30-year-old Hispanic female lying in the front yard area with several gunshots to her abdomen. The gunshot victim was transported by EMS to the local HCA Houston Healthcare Emergency Center; the victim succumbed to the gunshot wounds.
Cleveland PD officers and detectives are actively working the homicide scene. The residence and surrounding area are being treated as an active crime scene as evidence is being gathered. The motive for the shooting is undetermined as of this time.
Investigators ask that citizens living in this area of the shooting review any video recordings they may have regarding this time frame. Someone may have the suspect(s) or relevant activity on their security cameras and not realize it. Anyone discovering suspicious activity is asked to contact investigators.
The Cleveland Police Department is currently being assisted by the Texas Rangers, Liberty County Sheriff’s Department, and the Liberty County District Attorney’s Office.
