Big happenings for The Vindicator family
Big things are happening at The Vindicator as preparations are underway for the 135th Anniversary of Liberty County’s oldest continuous news source approaches later this year.
According to Publisher Jennifer Richardson, the staff continues improving the product and delivering more relevant and informative content to readers.
“We are working hard to better our news coverage and overall product, both in print weekly and online daily, as well as other areas of the paper to serve Liberty County better. We are also looking forward to another great fall with our sports coverage,” said Richardson.
Richardson is excited to announce two staff changes that she believes will strengthen the team and better serve the community.
The first announcement is the promotion of a familiar face.
Calynn Owens-McDonnel has served the past few months in a number of facets, from clerical to accounts payable, as well as sales. However, her time with the paper has far exceeded that, as she was practically raised at The Vindicator as Richardson’s oldest child.
“Calynn has been around The Vindicator for fifteen years, and she began working with us back in high school. She loves being part of our team, and we are excited to have her fulltime in what we believe is truly a family-oriented paper,” said Richardson.
Now Owens-McDonnel will step into the marketing specialist role full-time, as she will do her part to assist customers with the best solutions for their advertising and marketing needs.
“I’m excited to be working for The Vindicator, and I’m excited to meet and talk with all of our great customers,” said Owens-McDonnel.
Owens-McDonnel and her husband, Kevin McDonnel, live in Liberty and are the very proud parents of Nolan, 9, and Rhyder, 4.
Joining Owens-McDonnel is another familiar face with Jazmin Morua returning to The Vindicator as the new office coordinator after departing last year to give birth to her third child, Isaac.
“I am so excited to have Jazmin back with The Vindicator family, along with her new little one,” said Richardson.
Morua will take on the duties Owens-Mc-Donnel handled and assist with sales and other news-related tasks.
“I am looking forward to returning and being a part of this amazing family again and getting out into the community,” said Morua.
Morua and her husband Edgar also live in Liberty, where they raise their three beautiful children, Cindie, 9, Aileen, 6, and their baby boy Isaac.
“We are certainly a family, and both of these ladies will be integral in their roles here at The Vindicator, and we are all looking forward to what the future holds,” said Richardson.
