Harris announces candidacy for Liberty City Council
Matt Harris has announced his candidacy for a position on the Liberty City Council in the May 4 election.
“I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Liberty City Council and I humbly ask for your support. I am committed to serving our community and addressing the issues that matter most to us as taxpayers,” Harris said.
A 40-year resident of Liberty, Harris understands the challenges and opportunities the city faces.
“I see the impact local policies have had on our neighborhoods, schools, and businesses and I am prepared to be a voice for positive change on the City Council,” Harris said.
Harris graduated from Trinity University in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in construction management and owns Pelco Builders. He has served as a Liberty ISD Board of Trustee, serves on the First Liberty Bank Board of Directors, is a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Parish Council, is a board member of Liberty Youth Baseball, and is a member of the Associated General Contractors of America.
If elected, Harris will focus his attention on the following areas of the city: • Limiting taxpayer dollars spent on increased government growth, • Electric bill collections being used to support the City
General Fund, • Tax rates and budget, • Providing a welcoming and friendly environment to encourage economic growth, • City infrastructure, including roads, water, sewer, and electrical.
“I am running for City Council because I believe in the potential for positive change. I ask for your vote and your trust on Election Day. Together, we can make our city an even better place to live, work, and raise a family,” Harris concluded.
