Water drive to help Dayton Lakes
Recently the water system in the City of Dayton Lakes was declared unsafe by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality leaving residents in need of safe drinking water. The entire community is on a boil water notice, which they will be on for the near future, while they continue to pay their water bills to help offset the costs of fixing the water supply system.
The TCEQ has deemed the water safe for bathing and washing clothes, however they suggest that even indoor house pets drink bottled water until the water system is repaired.
In an effort to help those that need assistance with the additional cost of drinking water the Liberty County Office of Elections, Pct. 2 Commissioner Greg Arthur, Pct. 1 Commissioner Bruce Karbowski, Liberty County Housing Authority, Liberty County Fire Marshal’s Office, and The Vindicator are working to supply clean drinking water to the residents of Dayton Lakes.
Members of this joint effort are asking for donations of bottled water, or for cash donations to go toward the cost of purchasing pallets of water for the residents of Dayton Lakes, which includes small children and elderly residents. Anyone that wishes to make a financial contribution can contact Jennifer Richardson, Publisher of The Vindicator at 936-336-3611.
The Kenefick Volunteer Fire Department has agreed to house and distribute the water to residents of Dayton Lakes. Once the water has been collected.
