LCSO Dispatchers learn about Apollo Med Flight
LIBERTY — Apollo Med Flight and HCA Houston had a gift exchange with the Liberty County Sheriff ’s Office Dispatchers on April 16.
“HCA Airlife came here in January of 2022, and we put a base across from the Liberty- Dayton Medical Center in order to serve locally to this area,” states Melissa Dahl, the regional operations director for Apollo Med Flight.
Apollo Med Flight is based in Houston and has combined efforts with HCA Houston to provide the best care possible to the surrounding areas.
Six months ago, they developed a straightforward application that allows communications specialists to point and choose where they want the aircraft to go. All landing zones are already pre- loaded, which makes the intake process.
It allows the dispatcher to be on the phone with the caller and give all their attention versus having to rush off a call intake and get off the phone to call for a helicopter.
“If you can a hot and ready pizza from your cell phone, then you could use this application to order a helicopter,” says David Ward, the communications director for Apollo Med Flight.
Apollo wanted to show their appreciation to the LCSO Dispatchers and show them all they could do in helicopters. The flight crew gave a run down on everything in their aircraft and explained how to provide the correct details to them in flight so they could prepare what exactly they needed to get ready for the incoming patient.
