Explore Galveston’s Historic homes
The Galveston Historical Foundation opens the doors to Galveston’s incredible architectural history through public tours of privately-owned homes during its annual Galveston Historic Homes tour that will be held on May 7, 8, 14, and 15 from 10 am-6 pm.
“We are very pleased to offer a diverse and impressive group of houses this year for our annual tour,” explains Dwayne Jones, GHF’s Executive Director. “The owners committed countless hours to these projects that restore, rehabilitate, and preserve these beautiful island residences. This is a year not to miss a single house and see their dedicated work and vision.”
Beverly Davis of Liberty has been a volunteer for GHF for 23 years and is chairman of the GHF Events Committee and on the GHF Board. She will be ticket chairman of the 1874 Hughes House (the cover house) on Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 15. Some of her volunteers who will be helping include Roberta and Neal Thornton of Liberty, Caroline and Larry Wadzeck of Dayton, and Dana Abshier and Dozier Partlow of Hardin.
Special Events include History on Tap Dinners, a Galveston History Strand Walking Tour, Moody Mansion Happy Hour, Plein Air Southwest Artists Competition, Show and Sale, the Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch in the 1860 Garten Verein, and the Spanish Colonial Revival Happy Hour and Tour.
Homes Tour is the second-largest fundraiser for GHF, with Dickens on the Strand being the largest.
