Prayer around the flagpole is one of those time-honored traditions that paints a picture of small-town America and the faith of its residents.

Every year, only days before the shuffling of feet and excited whispers overtake the silence of summer break inside school hallways, a group of people come together in reverence to pray.

Faith leaders and members of the Mid Chambers County Ministerial Alliance call to order the attending group of parents, teachers and children.

This year’s walk was held Sunday and began in front of Anahuac High School, the crowd of the young and elderly visited all AISD campuses to rejoin hands and bow their heads to share a common belief.

Attendees joined one another in prayer for divine protection over students as well as wisdom and guidance of teachers and staff. And above all else, safety for all.
