WALLISVILLE— Grabbing tasty, homemade cookies, supporters of the Chambers County Museum at Wallisville prepared for Santa Claus by purchasing sweet treats at the Christmas-themed fundraiser.

The museum hosted its Fourth Annual Cookies for Santa fundraiser on Dec. 20, selling boxes to fill with holiday cookies.

“The people in Chambers County are wonderful,” said Marie Hughes, director of the museum. “They are great supporters of the museum.”

Cookies are donated by community members Hughes and her daughters.

“I power bake on Thursday evening,” Hughes said.

The Cookie Barn in Anahuac, owned by Heather Ordaz, even donated skillfully frosted sugar cookies.

The wide range of holiday cookies received high praise from attendees.

“They’re really good,” Brenna Perdue said.

Those who attended were able to grab a box and pick whichever and however many cookies they wanted. Entering the second hour of the event, most large boxes were sold.

Attendees were grabbing boxes for grandchildren, neighbors or for themselves to enjoy.
