Lady Panthers victorious over Hardin 5-2
ANAHUAC – The Anahuac Lady Panthers scored all the runs they needed in the first four innings, and pitcher Brecken Wilpitz held Hardin scoreless after the third inning as Anahuac defeated the Lady Hornets 5-2 last Tuesday night at home.
Wilpitz struck out five in the complete game win.
Hardin grabbed an early 1-0 advantage in their first at-bat only to have the Lady Panthers come back and answer.
Wilpitz reached after being hit by a pitch, stole second, and then moved over to third on a wild pitch. Keeley Butler then grounded out to score Wilpitz and the score was tied at one apiece.
Anahuac added another run in the second inning as Emily Dominy doubled and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Taylor Trahan for a 2-1 lead.
Hardin scored a run in the top of the third inning to tie the score at 2-2, only to see the Lady Panthers answer with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame.
Jayda Granger and Kaitlynn McDaniel singled to score Granger to make it 3-2. Cyann Cook followed with an RBI single to score McDaniel and the advantage was 4-2.
Gabby Palacios tripled in the fourth inning for Anahuac and then scored on a Granger RBI single to make it a 5-2 lead. That was all Wilpitz needed as she finished off Hardin for the win.
Granger and Cook led the hitting attack with two hits each.
The Lady Panthers will travel to East Chambers on Friday night.
