Hartness Home-Goods offers a variety of candles, clothing and other special items that make the perfect gift.

ANAHUAC – Led by their noses, customers flow into Hartness Home-Goods to pick out a unique candle, add to their wardrobes, or find the perfect gift for a loved one.

Hartness Home-Goods is located in Lil Shops of Anahuac, founded by Misa Hartness in 2021.

Originally working in the veterinarian field, Hartness was looking for a more creative outlet. Inspired by her grandmother making candles, Hartness began creating her own candles as an outlet and personal hobby. From then on, she began making and selling candles.

Along with Hartness’s love of making candles, she also sells clothing. Her favorite part of the job is being able to dress people.

“Helping women appreciate themselves is really important to me,” Hartness said.

Hartness loves being inclusive with her clothing, making sure women of all sizes are able to feel beautiful in anything they buy.

Due to Hartness’s personal experiences in other boutiques, she originally decided to exclusively carry plus-sized clothing. Currently, she offers clothing of all sizes.

She believes women of all shapes and sizes deserve to embrace who they truly are through fashion.

“I’ve been to boutiques where they don’t carry my size, so I didn’t love the thought of anybody at any size not being able to find their size,” Hartness said.

A typical day for Hartness includes bringing in the candles she makes from home to label them, stocking inventory, marketing on social media and attending to customers to keep her on her toes.

Making her “Gator Breath” candles and other special holiday candles, Hartness stays especially busy during Gator Fest and holiday seasons. Experimenting with scents and designs, she curates unique experiences to bring into your home for any festive need.

Shopping at small businesses is a great way to support locals as they work to reinvest in the community.

“Small businesses sponsor your children and donate to foundations,” Hartness said. “We help out as much as we can in the community.”

Stop by and greet Hartness at her shop just to the left as you enter the building. Pick out the perfect scent to flood into your home and see what else Lil Shops of Anahuac has to offer.
