ANAHUAC— It wasn't a lack of hits that cost the Anahuac Panthers on Saturday afternoon; unfortunately, the difference in a 3-1 loss to the Hardin Hornets was the inability to get them home.

Originally scheduled for Thursday night in Hardin, the big district contest was moved to Anahuac for Saturday due to the weather.

The Panthers finished the game with nine hits, with five coming in the first two innings, but Anahuac could only manage one run out of it.

In the second inning, Anahuac scored a run to move in front 1-0. Ty Wilcox and Brayden Sutch singled, and Blake Majors scored Wilcox with a single.

Braedon Edmonds followed by reaching base on a walk, but the Panthers could not do any more damage in the inning as they led 1-0 after two innings of play.

The Hornets used three hits and a hit-by-pitch to score three runs in the third inning to lead 3-1. The big hit of the inning was a Trevor Jones two-run double.

Anahuac starter Logan Trotter settled down from there and did not allow any more runs. The senior finished with seven strikeouts on the day.

The Panthers put a couple of runners on base in the seventh inning as Luke Hoagland walked and Oscar Garza singled.

Hardin's winning pitcher, Lleyton Berry, got out of the jam, and Anahuac fell short on the scoreboard.

Sutch and Majors led the Anahuac hitting attack with two hits each.
