DISD MEET THE DRIVER NIGHT

Dayton ISD Transportation is hosting a Meet the Driver Night at the SSC Auditorium, 702 S. Cleveland St in Dayton on Friday, August 5 from 5 pm to 7 pm. Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet their bus driver and parents will also receive help with Dayton ISDs “MY STOP APP”. Students not registered with Dayton ISD Transportation will also have the opportunity to do so.

HARTZ RIBBON CUTTING

The Dayton Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the ribbon cutting for the new location of Hartz Chicken Buffet which is now 204 W Hwy 90 in Dayton. This event will take place on Friday, August 5 at 10 am. The new location will open at 10:30 am and the first ten customers will be given free food.

CLEVELAND BACK TO SCHOOL GIVEAWAY

The Cleveland Civic Center will be hosting the Back to School Spectacular, Saturday, August 5 from 5pm to 7pm. There will be a free backpack and school supplies giveaway. A child must be present to receive supplies. The Cleveland Civic Center is located at 210 Peach Ave.

47TH ANNUAL DISD APPRECIATION LUNCHEON

The 47th Annual Dayton ISD staff appreciation luncheon will be Wednesday, August 10. This event is hosted by the First United Methodist Church in Dayton. FUMC will be feeding the entire school district staff of about 750 people. The event will be at the Dayton Civic Center. This is a great outreach for the area to show the entire staff how much they are appreciated and valued in the education of our youth in Dayton.

MURAL RIBBON CUTTING

As the new mural on the side of Texas Kountry Kitchen has been finished, the Dayton Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ribbon cutt ing ceremony. This event will take place on Wednesday, August 10 at 11 am at the corner of Main St and Depot St in Dayton.

LEE COLLEGE BACK-TO-SCHOOL CELEBRATION

Kick off your fall with a fresh start at the Lee College Education Center - South Liberty County. The address is 1715 HWY 146 Bypass, Liberty, TX 77575.

The Back-to-School Celebration is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13 will feature a DJ, kids’ activities, immunizations including meningitis, a health fair, an open house, college & workforce class information, a grocery giveaway, and door prizes.

BLOOD DRIVE

First United Methodist Church Liberty, along with Life Share Blood Centers, will be hosting a blood drive, Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 3-7 pm, in the Fellowship Hall, 539 Main Street, Liberty. Anyone who has not donated whole blood in the last 56 days, or double red cells in the last 112 days, is eligible. By donating blood, you are truly giving the gift of life. CLEVELAND FOOD TRUCK FUSION

The Cleveland Civic Center and CVB and Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce will be bringing the Food Truck Fusion back in a new and exciting way. This event will be set up at a new downtown location (on the old fire station lot), 106 West Hanson St, Cleveland, TX 77327, with shorter, more convenient hours and maybe a few surprises. It will occur on the last Thursday of each month; August 25 from 11 am to 1 pm with limited time pop-up events.

2022 TVE BABY PARADE

The Trinity Valley Exposition will be hosting their annual Baby Parade through downtown Liberty on Main Street Saturday, October 15 at 10 am. This year’s theme is “DECADES”. It will be at the TVE Fairgrounds, 321 FM 563 (Wallisville Road) in Liberty. The cost to reserve a space, which is 40x40 in size, before October 7 is $120.00 per team, aft er October 7 is $170.00. This event is free to the community. Your team cannot charge the public to enter your space. ENCOUNTER THE BLESSINGS!

The Dayton Senior Center is NOW open Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm.

Lunch is on Wednesday & Fridays with a $3 fee (Must sign-up and pay prior)

Sit & Be Fit workout class 12:30 to 1:15 pm; Mondays & Thursdays (starting August)

HARDIN SENIOR CITIZENS

The Hardin Senior Citizens meet at the Hardin Community Center each week Tuesday-Friday the center opens at 8:30 am for anyone wanting a litt le breakfast at no charge or just to swing in to visit. For more information or to reserve your lunch, call 936-298-3107. The Hardin Community Center is located at 414 CR 2010 in Hardin.

DAYTON OLD SCHOOL MUSEUM

The Dayton Old School Museum is open to the public from 10 am – 2 pm on Saturdays. The museum is located at 111 W. Houston St. in Dayton.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

The Family Church in Hardin hosts Celebrate Recovery, a weekly class every Tuesday at 7 pm. If you know someone who needs this class, please share this information with them. This is a Bible-based recovery program for alcohol, drugs, codependency, anger management, etc. The Family Church is located at 656 CR 2010 in Hardin, Texas.

NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS

Trust the process. Narcotics Anonymous meets every Monday and Wednesday at 7 pm at 424 Main Street in Liberty, next to Jax Hamburgers. For more information, call 254-716-9965.

COFFEE WITH THE MAYOR

The City of Liberty has Coffee with the Mayor on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 am in council chambers.

AMES CITY COUNCIL MEETING

As the legislative branch of the City of Ames government, the City Council holds open public meetings where local laws, policies, and fundamental decisions for the city are discussed and decided. City Council members are elected at large.

Liberty City Council Meeting

All members are elected at large. The regularly called meetings of the Liberty City Council are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm. Special called meetings are typically held on the fourth Tuesday of each month; however, meetings may be reached at any time to conduct necessary business.

PLUM GROVE CITY COUNCIL MEETING

Second Monday of each month

Meetings start at 7:00 pm at City Hall.
