Read moreThe Liberty Lady Panthers Softball Camp finished up last Friday with a scrimmage from 10- noon. On a hot Thursday afternoon, Head Coach Karen Slack and assistant coach Joe, along with daughter and former University of Texas shortstop Kaitlyn Slack all worked with about 50 campers in fielding, hitting, running, and bunting drills, just to name a few of them. The camp under the direction of Slack is always a popular one and should be considering that Liberty has won the Class 4-A State Championship two of the last four years.

Read moreThe Cleveland Indians will only have two non-district games in getting ready for district play during the 2021 football season. Cleveland will get things started at home on August 27 against the Fulshear Chargers. The Indians travel into Houston the next Friday for a game against North Forest at Delmar Stadium. District play then kicks off on September 10 at home against the Waller Bulldogs. Cleveland will then travel to Magnolia West the following Friday before returning home for Magnolia. A trip to Porter on October 1 follows and then back home for New Caney the following Friday. The next two games will be challenging as a road trip to College Station High School on October 15 before welcoming football power Lufkin the following Friday. After a bye week on October 29, the Indians will end the regular season at Caney Creek on November 5.
Read moreThe Dayton Broncos will kick off the 2021 football season on Aug. 27 against the Lake Creek Lions. That will be one of five home football games the Broncos will have. After their first road trip of the season to Montgomery the following week, Dayton will host Goose Creek Memorial at home on Sep. 10 in the final non-district game before district play starts. The Broncos then have their bye the week of September 17 before starting district play the following Friday down Highway 90 at Crosby. Dayton will then welcome Port Neches-Groves on October 1 before hitting the road again with a trip to Santa Fe. Nederland then comes calling the following Friday and then road trips to Texas City and Barbers Hill the next two weeks. District play closes on Nov. 5 at home against Kingwood Park.

Read moreZach Pike, Dayton High School 2019 graduate and former Bronco athlete, has made Academic All-Conference at East Texas Baptist University. Student athletes in the ASC (American Southwest Conference) must obtain a 3.0 or higher GPA in order to qualify. Zach also made 2nd Team All-Conference Defensive Back as starting safety for the ETBU Tigers. Zach will be starting his junior year in the fall and is majoring in Entrepreneurial Leadership.
