The Liberty County Historical Commission will bring back Fletcher Clark and Donaly Brice for a double- feature in song, narrative, lecture in rollicking style to Liberty and Dayton on Saturday, April 1. Both events are FREE ADMISSION to the public and sponsored by the commission as a special history event in Liberty County. Read moreThe Libertad Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held their monthly meeting on February 16th in the Price Daniel Meeting room. The program was led by Nan Headrick, Chair of the Good Citizens Committee. Four local high school seniors were awarded the Good Citizen award for their graduating class of 2023. They were chosen as the student who most represents the qualities of good citizenship, dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their home, school, and community.
Read moreDAYTON – At the monthly meeting of the Dayton Historical Society, local historians welcomed Rev. Guy Williams from the First Methodist Church of Dayton as their monthly speaker. Williams gave a thorough history of the church's roots in England, America, Texas, and the local church in Dayton. Founded nearly 160 years ago, historical society members learned that the church was founded during the Civil War and other significant history. After the meeting, members of FMC Dayton joined Williams for a group photograph, and everyone enjoyed a light dinner social.
