ARLINGTON — The Trinity River Authority of Texas invites first through eighth-grade students living in the following counties: Anderson, Chambers, Dallas, Ellis, Freestone, Henderson, Houston, Kaufman, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Navarro, Polk, San Jacinto, Tarrant, Trinity and Walker to create artwork that represents the theme “The Trinity River: Our Shared Home.” The contest is also open to students who live or go to school in TRA’s customer cities.

At Dayton High School’s pep rally, Algebra I teacher Mr. Cruz fulfilled a bet made with his students by allowing seven of them to shave his head. The bet was made last year, with Mr. Cruz promising to let his students shave his head if they performed at a mastery level on their 2024 Algebra I STAAR EOC exam.

Ken DeFoor, who served as Dayton Police Chief from 1984 – 1986, and Terry Boyett. Who served twice as Dayton Fire Chief from 1994-95 and 20012016, posed recently for a MUG SHOT inside The Old School Museum. They received their mugs for presenting programs to the Dayton Historical Society.
