Since the retirement of Mary Anne Campbell, the local Chamber has undergone several changes in a short time, with the recent hiring of new Chamber President Jennifer Chavira and Director of Communication Allie VanDeventer Smart, to a complete overhaul of the offices, including major technological upgrades, now the Chamber is undergoing an even more significant change that will signal a new era with a new name; the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce.

Cleveland ISD officials held a small gathering of community members to discuss the upcoming CISD Bond issue on the Nov. 2 ballot at the First Baptist Church of Cleveland Monday night. CISD Superintendent Chris Trotter made the presentation which gave a snapshot of the current situation in the district and reasons for the importance of building a second high school campus.

In a meeting of the Trustees of the Town of Liberty on 27th May 1848, it was ordered that a committee of three be appointed “to select a suitable lot for a berying (sic) ground.” On that date it was further ordered that W. H. Huggins, George W. Miles and H. Jackson be appointed to said committee. It is unknown exactly when the site for a “burying ground” was selected by the committee but probably within the same year of 1848.

Read moreAfter a year of cancelations and delays of everything under the sun, the end of the wait for the Trinity Valley Exposition’s return is fast approaching. A slew of events is kicking off this weekend, with the 2021 edition of the TVE Trail Ride, Oct. 8-10, and the TVE Team Roping event on Sat., Oct 9 at the forefront. The big annual trail ride will take place over the weekend, beginning Friday afternoon in Hardin, as trail riders set up camp. Sign-ups will start at 4 pm, and the camp is located at 1296 CR 2094, Liberty, TX. The cost to ride in this year’s event is $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 7 to 12, while those six and under ride free. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
