After three decades of service to the citizens of the City of Ames, Mayor John White has decided to call it a day. The longtime city leader officially stepped down from that post Nov.19, and now residents of the community can look to newly elected City Councilman Cornelius Gilmore, as he has been appointed the role of Interim Mayor.

Read moreLiberty County Commissioners have agreed to a short term agreement with Allegiance Ambulance Service to provide ambulance services to rural areas of Liberty County. An emergency meeting was called to find a temporary service after Liberty County EMS breached their contract. The county’s contract required three ambulances to be in service, and Liberty Country EMS could only provide two ambulances. The agreement with Allegiance Ambulance Service is a month to month contract, provides five basic ambulances, one mobile intensive care unit, and one chase car.

Just a couple of years ago, it was a simple Christmas parade down Main Street in Daisetta. Last Saturday, in addition to the parade, HD Neat and the City of Daisetta combined energies to produce `Christmas on the Square: The action began earlier in the week as children were encouraged to scout out the locations of five Boorays. A booray is a mischievous cajun gnome that enjoys playing tricks on folks and generally causing havoc. Friday night was the second of four ‘community movie nights’ and then Saturday events began to play out at noon and wrapped up just after eight.

The Vindicator began publishing on December 9, 1887, and was founded by Thomas Jefferson Chambers, a Texas politician and a two term mayor of Liberty. Jefferson started in the newspaper business as a teenager and continued as an editor for multiple Liberty papers before creating The Liberty Vindicator. We continue to thrive today by bringing up to date news and information about the Liberty County community.

Billy Knox, the child passed away on Friday, November 27 as a result of the injuries sustained when she was pinned in her swing set by the mother’s vehicle on November 13, 2020.
