The ancient Egyptians figured out that the solar year is 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds longer than the man-made calendar year. The Romans first designated February 29th as leap day in years divisible by four.
The Egyptians may have discovered the extra day; the Romans designated it, but the Lord designed it! Spend it well. “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)
